The following are roster type options available to provision InsightMath accounts and the login methods available for each roster type.
| Roster Type | Login Methods |
| Clever | Single Sign-On |
| ClassLink | Single Sign-On |
| SAML | Single Sign-On |
| OneRoster | Text, Single Sign-On |
| Console Student Rostering | Text |
Typically, all of the schools in a district must use the same type provisioning, whether using an SSO, uploading roster files, or using non-rostered picture password visual logins. Districts are responsible for the data that is submitted to InsightMath. For more information or clarification, reach out to your InsightMath Regional Implementation Manager or Education Success Manager.

| What is it? | District submits rosters that provide student details including usernames and passwords. Text: Students always use the district-issued username and password to log in. | District submits rosters that provide student details including usernames and passwords. Text: Students always use the district-issued username and password to log in. | Clever is one example of a Single Sign On (SSO) service provider that districts can utilize to help manage learning software. ClassLink is a third party service provider. By using SSO, students only need to sign in to one portal to access all software the district/school uses. The district controls the username and password. Some districts set up their own SSO through a SAML. SAMLs work by passing information about users, logins, and attributes between an identity provider and the service provider (InsightMath). Each user logs in once to the SAML SSO and then the identify provider can pass SAML attributes to InsightMath to sign in. |
| How does it work? | Console Student Rostering: District uploads one file of students to InsightMath directly and teachers create classes and add student manually. Files are uploaded as needed to add/remove students. | OneRoster: The district exports their SIS information in OneRoster format, then uploads it to our secure sftp server. This process should be automated to upload files daily so that the information in InsightMath is always current. | At the district level, the Student Information System (SIS) is synced with the provider. The SSO provider then syncs with the InsightMath database. Once rosters are synced, students can begin using InsightMath by logging into the school portal and selecting the InsightMath icon. Rosters are synced nightly. SAML is an SSO type only but not a provider of roster information and does not sync with InsightMath. SAML files must be uploaded using OneRoster csv file format to an sftp account. |
| Advantages | Teachers can add/remove students but do not have to add them manually to InsightMath. |
| |
| Who it is a good fit for | Smaller districts/ schools who want data analysis but don't have a dedicated person to upload files nightly so students are uploaded rather than being added manually by the teacher (as in visual logins.) |
| |
| Who it is a bad fit for | Large districts (more than 5,000 students) cannot use Console Student Rostering. |
